How to Meet and Communicate with your Spirit Guides
One thing I’ve learned on my spiritual journey is that I am always supported by divine energy. Connecting and utilizing my spirit guides has been a gift for support, answers, and contribution in my life. If you would have asked me years ago, I would have been confused as to what is a spirit guide. The idea of “spirit guides” also scared me because I didn’t understand this invisible support. I want to break this down for you so you can better understand and how to communicate with them.
What is a spirit guide?
I like to reference them as “energies” because they take different forms. I don’t believe there’s a specific look to them. Sometimes they show up as our ancestors, animals, objects, colors, or feelings. Sometimes they have distinct personalities. What I do know is that they are here to help and support us. Some spirit guides are assigned to us for a specific thing we need guidance in our life. For example, if you need to play more or bring joy into your life, there could be a specific spirit guide to help you with that.
Do I have a spirit guide?
Yes, we all have spirit guides. I like to see them as a team, similar to a basketball team. There’s different players, coaches, and trainers to help you succeed. We all have several guides at one given time. Some guides are with us throughout our lives while some come and go depending on what we need support with at that time.
How do I receive messages from my guides?
I believe we are all intuitive and have the ability to receive divine information. Here are the common signals how you receive messages:
Visually, this is also known as clairvoyant. It is through sight and imagination that you can see lights, orbs, or even physical objects like a feather.
Auditory, this is also known as clairaudience. It can come through in your thought-forms, songs, or sounds.
Clear feelings, aka clairsentience. This happens through a jolt of gut feelings positive or negative, chills.
And lastly, through inspiration, insights, and knowledge. This is also referred to as claircognizance. This could be a forewarning about something or sense of knowing.
How do I know if my guides are communicating with me?
There’s the intention to communicate with your spirit guides for example by sitting in medtiation to inquire guidance. Another way a spirit guide can show up is through signs or strong impulses. Sometimes they even have funny humor and will change the song on your playlist to get your attention. They’ll even bring people, animals, or objects in your way to bring meaning to you. You may even see 1111, 222, 555…etc often, these are also ways in which your guides are communicating with you.
Are spirit guides scary?
They may be funny, helpful, strict and take many other forms, but not scary. They are here to help.
When can I call on them?
You can call on and speak to them at all times. I like to ask for guidance in my healings and readings with my clients. I also call on them when I feel lost or stuck. They help to nudge me in a direction to move me forward.
Beverly’s Bonus Insights:
Something important I don’t see often mentioned around spirit guides in the spiritual community is that you are empowered and have freewill. This means, you have the power to listen to their guidance or not. Sometimes I don’t like a specific guide, so I’ll ask for another one instead. This is your team, you are not less than them. You are just as powerful and have the freewill to what you want with the messages. You can even tell them what you need and provide them feedback. Sometimes, if I get frustrated from a guide and I don’t feel like they are supporting me in the way that it is helpful, I’ll straight up just tell them how to communicate with me or specify what I need from them. They are apart of your team. They are here to support you. You are the boss. You are not abide by them.
